The BBA and BS in Insurance at EKU are the only undergraduate insurance degrees in Kentucky.
Graduates of the insurance studies program have unlimited opportunities in the field of insurance. Just a few possibilities are positions as
Marketing representatives, and
Courses are offered each semester to prepare students for national exams. EKU Insurance majors are encouraged to begin work toward professional designations such as the CPCU, CLU, ChFC, ARM, and AAI. Examination fees are reduced for full-time students and, in many cases, reimbursed once the exam has been successfully completed. Book scholarships may also be available for courses associated with a professional exam.
Employment opportunities in the industry through cooperative education provide insurance students with income, additional academic credit, and valuable experience. Cooperative education allows students to apply classroom theory and work experience activities in a supervised workplace setting. Students are encouraged to consider applying insurance and/or free electives hours toward co-op. Work opportunities are widely available for insurance majors each semester and during summer school. EKU Career Services also provides guidance and resources to students that enable them to achieve their career-related goals.
The Insurance Society provides insurance majors with a variety of activities related to the insurance profession. Insurance studies students may also join Gamma Iota Sigma - the national insurance fraternity.

NAPSLO - National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices, Ltd. is a national trade association representing the surplus lines insurance industry and the wholesale insurance marketing system.
RIMS - Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. serves its member entities by proactively providing the highest quality products, services and information to manage all forms of business risk.
AICPCU - The American Institute for Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter, and Insurance Institute of America are nonprofit orgnaizations offering education, certification, publications, and research reports to businesses and individuals in risk management and property and liability insurance.
The American College - is an independent, nonprofit, accredited educational institution providing graduate and professional education. (CLU, ChFC, and CFP)
IRU - Intermediaries and Reinsurance Underwriters promotes professionalism and educational advancement and provides member forums for members companies. Produces the Journal of Reinsurance.
Kentucky Department of Insurance - serves the insurance consumer, the agent, and the company by striving to promote a sound competitive insurance market through enforcement of insurance laws and regulations of the Commonwealth.
