Insurance Studies Program

Insurance Studies Program

The Insurance Studies Program at EKU is the only program offering an undergraduate degree in insurance in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  The program was created in 1976 as the result of several prominent insurance business leaders who believed that Kentucky needed a program to prepare young men and women for careers in the field of insurance.  The program offers a Bachelor of Business Administration with emphasis in Insurance as well as a Bachelor of Science in Insurance.

The objective of the Insurance Studies Program is to provide students with a basic knowledge in all areas of insurance so that they can pursue a career in any of the broadly diversified opportunities available in this profession.

The insurance courses are designed to be useful for all students, regardless of their primary field of study.  These courses are also designed to help the student become a more knowledgeable and sophisticated insurance consumer.

Insurance is a proud profession and at EKU we treat Insurance and Risk Management and Financial Planning as professions.  We believe that our graduates will be immediately useful to their employer and have structured our curriculum to deliver as much practical, useful information as is possible in an university environment.
